Ensemble Lipovanskie Napevy (Chants of the Lipovans) hails from Vilkovo town in Danube river delta. Famous for its canals, Vilkovo is called Venice of Ukraine. Lipovans are Old Believers of mostly Russian origin who came to this area in 17th and 18th centuries. The town was founded in the middle of 18th century and inhabited by Old Believer cossacks from Don area. Until present day its population is primarily Lipovan and many folk songs are kept by them.
