Alexander Matochkin is a famous Russian storyteller, musician, researcher and advocate of folklore.

Kimzha is a village in the Dorogorsky village council of the Mezensky District of the Arkhangelsk Region. There is aslo the Mezen river and the whole area is known as Mezen (pronounced "Meh-zEn’").

Petrova is a village on the other side of the Mezen belonging to the neighboring Zherd village council.

The songs of Kimzha were collected by Alexander during the expedition of the St Petersburg University together with Daria Tuminas, Alfiya Saifieva and Nadezhda Rikkonen in Kimzha in 2008. The songs of Petrova — by Zinaida Zhitova in 1993.

«Мезень. Кимжа, Петрова»: п​е​с​н​и А​р​х​а​н​г​е​л​ь​с​к​о​й о​б​л​а​с​т​и

Александр Маточкин — известный российский сказитель, музыкант, исследователь и популяризатор фольклора.

Кимжа — деревня Дорогорского сельсовета Мезе́нского района Архангельской области. Здесь протекает достаточно крупная река Мезе́нь, и вся эта территория в целом называется Мезенью.

Петрова — деревня с другого берега Мезени из соседнего Жердского сельсовета. Когда-то давно она называлась Петрова Гора, и с тех пор сохранилось прилагательное — петрогорский.

Кимженские песни (1-3, 9) собраны Александром в составе экспедиции СПбГУ совместно с Дарьей Туминас, Альфиёй Сайфиевой и Надеждой Рикконен в 2008 году. Петрогорские (4-8) — Зинаидой Фёдоровной Житовой в 1993 году.
