The Laks are one of peoples of Dagestan, Russia. Their homeland is a couple of districts in central part of Dagestan highlands. Total population of Laks is about 200 thousands people. Women's Balkhar ensemble took its name after their native village. During winter season many of the band's members live in Dagestan's capital Makhachkala. The album was recorded there.
