Tatyana Yamberdova was born in Yoshkar-Ola, the capital of the Republic of Mari El and lives in the town of Velikiye Luki, Pskov Region. She is a professional musician and plays and teaches classical violin.
Kovyzh is the Mari name for fiddle/violin. Tatyana is engaged in research and restoration of the Mari folk fiddle tradition, which unfortunately was interrupted in the second half of the 20th century. The melodies on this album were taken over by her from archival recordings of old violinists or adapted from surviving similar accordion tunes.
The cover image is a painting "Melody of generations" by Tatyana's father, Honored Artist of Russia Ivan Yamberdov. It depicts Tatyana herself and her great-grandmother Lchi.

Ковыж: марийская скрипичная музыка
Татьяна Ямбердова родилась в столице республики Марий Эл Йошкар-Оле, а живёт в городе Великие Луки Псковской области. Она профессиональный музыкант, играет и преподаёт классическую скрипку.
Ковыж — марийское название скрипки. Татьяна занимается также изучением и восстановлением марийской скрипичной традиции, которая, к сожалению, была прервана во второй половине XX века. Мелодии, звучащие на этом альбоме, переняты ею с архивных записей старых скрипачей либо переложены с сохранившихся аналогичных наигрышей на гармони.
Изображение на обложке — картина "Мелодия поколений" работы отца Татьяны, заслуженного художника России Ивана Ямбердова. На картине изображены сама Татьяна и её прабабушка Лчи.
